Industrial fans are being used for multiple applications in the industry. From maintaining proper circulation to ventilation and combustion, different industrial fans have been used to serve different purposes. These machines provide a large air or gas flow to different building parts. The results are achieved by rotating several blades connected to a hug and a shaft. The flow rate of an industrial fan is around 200 cubic feet (5.7 m3) to 2,000,000 cubic feet (57,000 m3) per minute.

As we shared in the beginning, there are different types of industrial fans, and they are made with different features. Here we have enlisted the different categories of mechanical fans:

Centrifugal fans– The blades of this fan extract air and gases at a right angle and spins the air outside. This is useful for working in environments with high pressure and harsh temperatures. These are significantly powerful and more long-lasting.  In a typical centrifugal fan, the blades are mounted around the hub on the centrifugal unit. This helps turns on the drive shaft which runs on the bearing. The gas enters from the fan wheel and turns it to 90° centrifugal force then accelerates the flow of air over the blades and exits the fan housing.

These are good for areas with higher dust and debris and for dust control and furnaces.

Axial fans– The next common type of mechanical fan used in the industry is the axial fan. This one extracts the air and pushes it in a parallel direction to the shop, which causes the movement of the plates. It produces lower pressure and higher volume airflow, making it an excellent choice for general-purpose applications that need moving air from one location to another. Some of these types of industrial fan applications are in cooling confined spaces like a computer.

High-Pressure fans (HP)-These are high static pressure fans and or ideal for burners.

Multi-vane fans (MV)- These are high-pressure fans and are also known as MV fans. The curve blades in the forward direction are the identifying features of this type of fat. These blades are good for cleaning the air from the factory location.

Backward curved fans (BC)- These are also known as BC fans and are more efficient. Or good for cleaning the air and removing dust.

Backward lamina fans (BL)- These are also known as BC fans. These have backward-inclined blades and are good for dust movement and cleaning the air.

Backward aerofoil fans (BA) – They have a backward area called a blade and are commonly used in the air management system.  These have a quitter design as compared to other types of industrial fans.

The material of the industrial fans plays a significant role in defining their durability and longevity. The choice of material also impacts the fan’s cost, durability, maintenance, and appearance. The material used for an industrial fan is determined by several aspects, including operating conditions, operational temperature, and explosive environment. All of these features can have an impact on the fan’s durability and performance. There are different options of industrial fan materials like steel, stainless steel, aluminum, nickel alloys, and titanium.

The most commonly used materials for industrial fans are:

Aluminum– It is one of the most widely used materials and is definitely known for its durability and strength. It is used to manufacture the critical components of the fans, like its wheels. The Spark resistant construction (SRC) is important as the Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA) standard. Aluminum is an SRC material. When fibers, dust, gases or liquids are present, it can cause an explosion.

Stainless Steel- The next popular choice that we have is stainless steel. Stainless steel of great 304 and 316 are considered to be the most durable and the best for industrial fan construction. We may strengthen the corrosion resistance of steel by adding molybdenum and titanium, and the greater temperature increases the durability of industrial fans
